Description:
Discover tangrams and make a Loch Ness Monster.  Enjoy booktalks and seaworthy storytelling about monsters of the deep.

Creature from the Black Lagoon
The Creature, an amphibious, prehistoric man-monster, inhabits the primordial depths of a tropical lagoon undisturbed until scientists intrude upon his domain. Variously interpreted as a monster from hell and a primitive innocent provoked to violence, the Creature belongs to a tradition of misunderstood monsters that include Frankenstein’s monster and King Kong. Science-fiction master Jack Arnold sensitively handles the erotic interplay between the Creature and the beautiful woman he desires.

Richard Carlson, Julie Adams

Movie: Shenandoah

08/04/2010 - 2:21pm

Description:

This epic struggle of the Civil War is portrayed on the screen with a faith and fury seldom accomplished. In what many consider his greatest role, James Stewart plays a widowed Virginian who attempts to make his land an island, sheltered from the horrors of war. He successfully pits his bull-headed and almost arrogant belief in peace against all the forces attempting to draw him into the war, until it involves his own family.

James Stewart, Doug McClure
Universal; Directed by Andrew V. McLaglen
Not Rated; 105 minutes

7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Keene Public Library Auditorium
