African American Folktales08/03/2010 - 3:00pm Etc/GMT-4 Description: Stories from the Heart: African American Folktales & Slave Narratives Using readings, traditional and digital storytelling, research, and writing participants will learn to tell a story and create an electronic version of their oral story. Participants will learn some minimal editing using MovieMaker and Audacity. The culminating activity will be a celebration when participants will tell their story as well as present their digital creation. 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Trustees Room at the Keene Public Library Key 1

Through simple tricks and demonstrations, Steve Lechner, owner and operator of The Science Works! explores the wonders of water and science. The exciting and interactive show truly demonstrates the 'magic' of science. Steve has been educating and entertaining children and teachers throughout New England for over twenty years. Steve has a degree in Early Childhood Education (Wheelock College, 1986; certified K-3), a Master of Education Degree (Lesley College, 1996; specializing in developing Science Learning Centers), and five years of experience in Museum Education (former Education Director of the Children's and Science Discovery Museums in Acton, MA). 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Keene Public Library Heberton Hall |
